Northumbria University

Northumbria University guarantees accommodation for all first-year students once an offer has been accepted. Over 5,000 rooms are available either self- provisioned or provisioned and all accommodation is a many minutes’ walk from main buildings or direct public transport to get you there. Accommodation Services staff are on hand all year to offer information and advice about all aspects of student accommodation and advise on similar things as landlord/ tenant problems if renting intimately.

Northumbria University Location

Newcastle is situated in the north- east of England, about four hours north of London by train. The city has a population of around 200,000 and was suggested to be the stylish city for students in 2011. The notorious River Tyne splits the city, with a wide variety of artistic attractions, including galleries, museums, nightlife, and shopping, giving students of all types something to see and do. The Metro system which links the university and city also runs out to the flaxen beaches of Whitley Bay and Tynemouth.

Northumbria offers a generous 20% tuition fee discount to students who choose to continue their studies or return to Northumbria to gain a Masters or Postgraduate Research qualification.

If you have graduated with a Full Undergraduate Degree, Masters, or Postgraduate Research qualification from Northumbria University (or Newcastle Polytechnic), you will automatically receive a 20% tuition fee discount (pro-rata if your course is more than one year) on most Masters and Postgraduate Research courses.

This discount applies to Full and Part-Time students (including the Post Graduate Certificate in Education) and is available to students studying at our Newcastle and London campuses or via Distance Learning.

Eligible students also include those who have previously studied at Northumbria in the UK as a Study Abroad or Exchange student, or those who have completed a Northumbria degree outside the UK via a Transnational Education (TNE) partnership, subject to successfully graduating at the level mentioned above.

To be eligible for the Alumni Discount, you must:
Be a UK, EU or International applicant who has achieved a full first degree from Northumbria University or Newcastle Polytechnic. (as defined by the levels published by the Higher Education Statistics Agency – ‘HESA’)
Provide proof of your previous qualification from Northumbria University or Newcastle Polytechnic.

Be applying to study on a Full Masters or Postgraduate Research course in September 2023 or January 2024
Be a self-funded student ie; not in receipt of any sponsorship
